Are you a motivated Industrial Product Design student with a passion for technology, hardware development, and real-world innovation? PhenoVation offers a unique internship where you will work closely with engineers, designers, and plant scientists in a hands-on, fast-moving environment.
As a company developing advanced imaging systems for plant research, we design and build integrated products that combine mechanics, electronics, optics, and software. During your internship, you will contribute to the design, prototyping, and refinement of real products used in greenhouses and research facilities worldwide, gaining experience across the full product development cycle—from concept to functional system.
Your job
During this internship, you will work on the redesign and refinement of a completely new product. You will be involved in the full development process, from early design improvements to preparing the product for manufacturing and assembly.
Your tasks will include:
- Improving and reiterating existing design concepts in SolidWorks
- Designing mechanical parts, housings, and assemblies
- Selecting suitable materials based on strength, durability, cost, and manufacturability
- Optimizing the design for simple, fast, and reliable assembly
- Thinking about real-world use, serviceability, and production efficiency
- Supporting prototyping, testing, and validation of the design
- Working closely with engineers and the production team to bring the product from concept to a finished, build-ready system
