The used false color table indicates the efficiency of photosynthesis. Black and red colors indicate a low efficiency, while yellow and green indicate a higher efficiency. In the Fm image the large depth of field of the CropReporter of about 30 cm can be observed.
The CropReporter High Resolution can be used for high troughtput measurements. Four large Arabidopsis plants were measured in one image in one second. The image resolution is 1.4Mp, dividing the images in four regions results in a resolution of 0.35 Mp per plant. Absolute maximum capacity is this example is 14400 plants per hour.
CropReporter High Resolution example images of Kalanchoe. The calculated Fv/Fm image (upper right side) clearly shows the measurement is not dependent on the leaf angle. Allthough the leaves are pointing to all directions, the calculated Fv/Fm values of the efficiency of photosynthesis are allmost constant therefore leaves are difficult to reconize in the calculated image.

Septoria infection in Wheat
Example images of the CropReporter High Resolution of a Septoria infection in wheat. The incubation time was 11 days. Visually (left image) the interaction between Septoria and the leaf is hardly to be seen (only small brown spots at the leaf tip). The calculated Fv/Fm image of the CropReporter shows a much lager infected area (red color) in the leaf tip. Also infections in the lower part of the leaf are shown in the Fv/Fm image (right side), which can not be seen by eye.
CropReporter High Resolution example images of Spathyphyllum. In the calculated Fv/Fm image (upper right side) is shown that flowers have a lower efficiency of photosynthesis (red color) comparing to leaves. Some leaves show a lower efficiency of photosynthesis (orange color) indicating stress.
Tobacco and CRSV Virus
This tobacco plant is infected with CRSV virus. The plant shows visual symptoms (color picture left side), but quantification of infection size is difficult. The image at the center is the calculated Fv/Fm image of the CropReporter, showing the efficiency of photosynthesis in false colors. The red and black colors show a low efficiency of photosynthesis caused by the interaction between virus and plant. The CropReporter Analysis software can easily quantify this area, colored in blue in the right image. This is an objective and fast way to quantify the percentage of infected plant area caused by the virus.
